Breakaway Festival 2025: Our Weekend at Allianz Field Festival Grounds

Hey everyone! Max and Cindy here with our full recap of Breakaway Festival 2025 in St. Paul. We spent June 6th and 7th at the Allianz Field Festival Grounds, and it was exactly the kind of weekend activity Minneapolis couples should have on their radar. Here's everything you need to know about this Twin Cities EDM festival experience.
The Festival Experience and Lineup
Over the two-day event, we caught some incredible performances. Friday night featured J.Worra, Surf Mesa, Acraze, and Troy Boy, while Saturday brought us Max Styler, Cassian, and Disco Lines. With a ton of other artists we didn't get the chance to see, like Tiësto and John Summit. Going into the weekend, we were most excited about Surf Mesa and Disco Lines, but honestly, every artist delivered something special.
J.Worra was our surprise favorite of the weekend. We'd only discovered her music the night before, but she absolutely blew us away with her chill, perfectly curated set. Disco Lines was probably our second favorite performance – Cindy's been obsessed with his music for months, and he definitely delivered the energy we were hoping for.

The festival featured two stages, each offering a different vibe. The main stage had incredible production value with top-notch lights and sound that made every performance feel like a major event. The secondary stage provided a more intimate concert experience, and some of our favorite moments happened there. Getting up close to the front for Surf Mesa at the secondary stage was honestly incredible. This stage offered that intimate vibe and made it one of our favorite moments of the entire weekend.

VIP Experience and What to Expect
We splurged on VIP tickets to avoid the larger crowds, and it was hands down the best decision we made. The VIP area offered better viewing angles, shorter lines, and a more relaxed atmosphere where we could actually enjoy the music without fighting through crowds. We definitely found the VIP tickets to be worth the investment.
Drinks were on the expensive side – around $19 each – so we mostly stuck with the Beat Boxes. The festival had plenty of spots to purchase drinks throughout the grounds, and despite long lines, they moved pretty quickly. There were several food vendors available, though we didn't try them since we had Dave's Hot Chicken delivered after the show (which definitely hit the spot for afters with Ernie).

We didn't stay for the full nights, heading home around 10 pm both evenings because we had Ernie waiting for us at home. Even leaving early, we felt like we got our money's worth and experienced the best of what the festival offered.
Our Recommendation
Breakaway Festival is perfect for anyone into EDM, house music, or just looking to dance. The crowd was chill, and the overall vibe was exactly what you want from a quality Twin Cities festival experience. This works great for couples looking for fun weekend activities in Minneapolis or anyone wanting to discover new artists in an awesome setting.

We're already looking forward to next year's lineup and will definitely be back with VIP tickets again. If you're searching for an amazing weekend concert experience in Minneapolis, Breakaway Festival should be on your list.
